If you have rental properties you must put them in a land trust. This process takes your name off public record and prevents potential lawsuits. If no one knows you own the properties, people are less likely to sue you. Once the property is in a Land Trust you should then put the trust in an LLC. The LLC will protect the property if you are sued personally. The LLC will separate your personal assets from you Business assets prevent a personal lawsuit from taking your rental properties. When it comes to your home the land trust is a must. The only difference is you lose out on a huge tax break when reselling your primary residence. You can set up a NV Corp and office program with a phone line fax number and mailing address. Use the NV Corporation to place a lien against your personal residence removing all equity. Placing a lien will make the property unattractive if there is no equity. Take it from me who has been in many different lawsuits, both business and personal. This is the best way to protect your properties. I like www.companiesinc.com and I just started using www.1800company.com to set up all of my corporation and LLC.
