This seems like the perfect board and the perfect forum to ask this question. Has anyone here been sued? Feel free to chime in too if you want.

i've been in several lawsuits. they are not fun. we are too sue happy, especially in California. also i get a lot more jury summons than i used to. I remember 20 years ago, i would get one every 8 or 10 years, now it's one every year to every other year. i think the lawyer to regular population percentage is narrowing and we are all in a lot of trouble.

I came up with this name, because of the fear of attorney's and those that want to take away my family assets. I will fight to protect what is mine.

Just watch the business cable channels and that's all you hear about every single night is lawsuits and pro lawyers explaining how to get their clients off from lawsuits or doing prison time.
Fox news, court channel, etc. all have huge panels of attorney's on every night voicing their opionins. very informative, yet very frightening as well.

I've always just thought if you were in a position to be sued, then you were doing something fishy... I hear statistics that would lead you to believe that everyone is getting sued on a daily basis. I agree that our legal system is bogged down with frivilous law suits but I still think that there are ways to stay clear of this. But again, I've never been sued, so I don't have much experience to lean on.

But again, I've never been sued, so I don't have much experience to lean on. There are those that put themselves into fishy situations and get sued and there are those that obey the law and get sued. I know people that were sued for posting negative comments about a publicly traded company on a public finance message board. So for example if you bought some stock from XYZ company, and they were running their company in a poor way and it caused your stock to drop and you decided to mention how the CEO of that company was doing a poor job, that CEO could sue subpoena Yahoo into disclosing your name and he could then file a defamation lawsuit against you. Now his attorney's would dig up your financial information and sue you for everything you have. This would go into court for years until you give up your assets to the company to leave you alone. Now this is where asset protection could save your life because if you think the 1st amendment will protect you from powerful attorneys with funding from an angry executive with access to corporate funding, think again.

I better be a little more careful what I'm saying on the boards.

And don't draw too much attention to yourself. And of course keep your assets really really private and safe.

You can be a really nice person and still get sued by a greedy person who uses a hungry lawyer to take advantage of you. If they know you have money and you accidentally make a mistake, they will go after as much out of you as they can find, thus don't make any mistakes, but if you do, be protected. You can't do much after you get sued, but you certainly can do a lot before the accident ever happens - so yes, protect yourself now while things are going well (because if you wait until after the accident or during the lawsuit, you are too late and the judges won't allow it).

I am the nicest driver in the world, but the occassional times I make a mistake, it just seems like a cop is waiting to bust me and write up a big ticket.

Did you know that more lawyers then doctors are graduating every year? Also there are more lawyers then jobs or cases. So what do they do? Find ways to sue people, create suits and judgments tie up the courts with frivolous lawsuits. With 2 teenagers driving, and all the toys and properties I have I am glad I am doing everything possible to protect myself and not become a victim of these kinds of acts. Watch this site has great information on how to protect you as well. I am sure you will sleep better at night as I know I do

I am sure you will sleep better at night as I know I do At least the medical association limits how many doctors they allow to enter the field each year. With lawyers, well the United States, and especially California is a ripe feeding ground for new attorneys to suck the public dry of it's money. We all know this is a problem, i like that this board helps protect hard working people from this epidemic.
